Flooding in Houston,Texas. Things you should know.

First, let me express my sincerest hope that all of you, your families, and employees are staying safe as we continue to experience this year’s unprecedented weather activity. We are all praying for the rain to stop.

In the meantime, I just wanted to take a moment to touch base regarding an important topic, particularly as we work through Auto claims in the Houston area that have resulted from the recent flooding. We’re encouraging customers in this area to take precautions to ensure that their vehicles are being towed appropriately. Please consider sharing the following information.

Dos and Don’ts:

  • Do ask questions. Any tow provider who is asking to tow your vehicle should be able to provide you the name of your insurance company and your claim number.

  • Do not release your vehicle without proper information. If a provider shows up unannounced and/or is asking to move your vehicle and cannot provide the name of your insurance company or claim number, do not allow them to move the vehicle and contact your adjuster immediately.

What customers should know:

  1. The rates that licensed wreckers and storage facilities can legally charge are regulated and capped. Storage lots and wreckers cannot make up fees and charges.

  2. Most Insurance providers contract with licensed and approved tow providers, wreckers and storage facilities to facilitate customers’ claims.

  3. Providers should almost always call customers in advance of pick-up to make arrangements.

Our goal is to provide the best service possible to our customers. Taking a moment to understand some common concerns can prevent unwanted delays, and help ensure the claims process proceeds smoothly.  If you have any questions or concerns, call us at 800-362-2809.  We are here to help!
