In case you did not know……. The Affordable Care Act (ACA) is in effect and is the law of the land. President Obama’s signature law, requires all American Citizens to obtain / purchase health insurance coverage or pay a tax (2.5% of gross annual income in 2016). If you do not enroll on a plan, you must wait until open enrollment season next year to obtain coverage.
The Open Enrollment Period for the 2016 ACA has been extended to January 31, 2016. If you do not obtain health insurance coverage through your employer, a private health insurance carrier or the Federal Exchange, the tax will be accessed on your 2016 income tax return. There are exemptions and you can review a list of those HERE If you or a loved one has not obtained coverage, call us at 800-362-2809. Most that enroll through the federal marketplace pay very little for the coverage and if you have not investigated this option, we would encourage you to consider the plan available on the exchange.
