Here are the top 10 cities at risk for damage at the start of hurricane period

The 2016 Atlantic hurricane season has begun, and meteorologists are expecting a near-normal period with 12 named storms, six hurricanes and three major ones. It’s a change in pace for the US, which has enjoyed three relatively slow years with little activity and relatively property damage.

More than 6.5 million homes along the Atlantic coastline and Gulf Coast region are at risk of storm surge inundation, representing nearly $1.5 trillion in potential reconstruction costs according to a CoreLogic storm surge analysis.

Of that $1.5 trillion in risk, $986 billion is concentrated in 15 major metro areas.

If you are reading this blog, you are probably in one of the area’s listed below.   Number 8 is HOUSTON.  If you have lived along the Gulf Coast for any period of time, you have witnessed and/or experienced the devastation that Hurricane brings.   We hear of people losing everything.  Without insurance, you are on your own.   While most carry homeowners and auto insurance coverage, many do not know what the policy covers or does not cover.

Now is the time to make sure your Homeowners, Auto Insurance, and / or Business Insurance coverage has the appropriate coverage.   Know what your deductible is in terms of “Dollars” and make sure you have enough Replacement Cost coverage to rebuild your home in the event of a total loss  (Replacement Cost is much different than your tax appraisal or resale value – it includes the removal and rebuilding of an existing structure which is cost much more than a new build.  We have a helpful guide “7 Insurance Secrets you should know before purchasing your Homeowners Insurance”    Click Here for a Free Copy
